Increasing your effectiveness with EFT, part 119.
I’ve been using an analogy with some of my clients lately that I’d like to share today: the analogy of the sun and the clouds. Think about the compassionate part of us, the part where our cognitive shifts come from. Sometimes, when we’re in the midst of ‘negative’ thoughts and feelings, we may become disconnected from it.
However, this part of us is like the sun: even if the weather is very cloudy or there’s a storm, the sun is still there, even if we can’t temporarily see it.
Those ‘negative’ feelings sometimes feel like clouds blocking our access to the sun, but the sun is still there. Using the Townhall Meeting analogy from last week, if we give the microphone to those feelings while we tap, they become less loud. What tends to happen is that they eventually clear the sky somewhat, allowing us to see the sunrays coming in, because the sun was always there.
When we meet ourselves exactly where we are with EFT, we stop resisting our feelings and find that they suddenly tend to shift and become less ‘stuck’. So even on those days when the sun is nowhere to be seen, EFT Tapping can still help us ‘give the microphone’ to those cloudy feelings and feel a sense of relief afterwards.
